Calpe!

After enjoying my time in Calpe so much last year I knew I had to come back for longer this time. So, after slogging it out in the UK's cold and wet conditions, while trying to fit my training around a part time job at Tesco, I decided to treat myself to a 3 week training camp which has been more than worth it. Being able to fully focus on getting 25+ hour weeks, good nutrition and good recovery has been amazing and although the training load has been so much higher than in November and December I feel more recovered and much stronger so I am itching to get back to racing now!

Training in Calpe has been great for me with the long climbs and flowing descents allowing me to work on my technical skills. With many strong British riders also here and riding with the likes of Leo and his Dutch friends I have been pushed to become a stronger rider and have learnt a lot from hearing about their experiences as they have tried to navigate the European cycling scene on their way to the professional ranks.

As I write this I have only 3 full days left here before flying back home. However, my stint back in the UK is only short as on the 30th January I fly to Lyon to get settled into my accommodation for the forthcoming year before I go to Girona for a 9 day training camp with the team to sharpen up before the season kicks off. My first race is on the final day of the camp in Nimes where I hope the winters hard work will come to fruition.
